MSD Wayne Township has made a concerted effort to recruit and retain teachers, including giving teachers the support they need to be successful. Of the 9 percent who resigned or retired, 26 percent left for another district, 22 percent retired, 16 percent moved out of state, and 12 percent became a stay at home parent. The district hired 90 teachers for the 2017-2018 school year, compared to 110 hires in 2016-2017 and 140 teachers hired in 2011-2012. It has since risen from 58.9 percent in 2014, the year before Jones took the helm in Bibb County, to 78.5 percent last year. ![]() ![]() Jones also set his eyes on boosting the district’s graduation rate to 90 percent by 2025. ![]() The district’s strategic plan, which Jones developed, “Victory in Progress,” has five key planks, including boosting student achievement, improving teacher and leader effectiveness, and strengthening stakeholder engagement. ![]()
